Directed by Yves Lacoste since its creation in 1976, quarterly journal Hérodote strives to promote a new and global conception of geopolitics. Geopolitics is the study of the effects of geography on international politics and international relations. A good understanding of geopolitics allows for a better understanding of the stakes of conflicts. Today, openly-fought wars are rare. On the other hand, there are many new commercial and ideological conflicts. The world has never been as globalized as it is today and paradoxically, it has never been as atomized.
Hérodote seeks to decipher the rapports that unite the different regions of our planet. In each issue, there are detailed reports and analyses on current events. You will also find maps summarizing situations at a given time, around a particular issue.
Hérodote regularly reviews events in French or international history. Indeed, it is essential to know the past in order to understand the future. In thematic issues and by calling on recognized specialists, this magazines continues its in-depth look at a world that only becomes increasingly complex.
