Ethnologie française analyses how our culture is shaped by what is happening in society today. First published in 1971, its original focus was French culture, but it has broadened its vision to the whole of Europe, especially in issues with articles by non-French the authors. The review explores our understanding of how we relate to our world. By setting field studies in perspective, it tests the tools we use to discuss modern day society. It reviews recent publications with a particular interest in the challenges thrown up by historical, philosophical and linguistic studies.
